The Poem:

"Mains en Prière"

A woman who knows how to pray

is your protection on this side of life.

She will talk to God and talks with God

to intercede in making wrong right.

She is confident that her voice will be heard

and takes care to only say what she means.

The Devil himself wipes off his grin

when her prayers have entered his dreams.

You needn't say but a light request

and she'll hasten her stance.

No need to worry about anything

when a woman lays on her hands.

The Story:

"Why Are You Jealousy?"

Women spend their entire lives comparing their looks to that of other women. We admire her face, watch her hips as she moves, and wonder if men enjoy her body more than that of other women.

A mild anxiety ensues, and when really dissatisfied, frustration and jealousy starts to chew on the brain.

You'll try to compete but you'll gain more in perspiration than in

results. And the years will go by watching you whinging because you'll have added needless embarrassment to your jealousy for willfully wasting so much time.

You could've been a better friend to yourself. You could reclaimed your time and stopped listening to fear mongering women whose sole purpose was to see you fail or to convince you not to try.

You don't have to be her, you know. No matter how clever her intellectualizing and her claims of being your fairy godmother, you never had to be her.

All you've ever needed to do was accept yourself. Your prescription bottle reads: take one every 4 hours with a glass of I don't give a shyteness.

You have yet to take your own medicine though.

You want the dosage other women take, and this is why you never get well.

You won't allow yourself to realise that you don't have to doubt your worth.

You find comfort in your fear, and strength, ironically, in your anger.

Your rage makes you feel like you're making progress because it causes you to jerk about while weakness renders you bed bound.

I understand.

The shame, I mean.

The dred of another day of trying to find a reason why your life has any value.

The programming seems so right because almost every woman you know demonstrates hesitation about her station in life. You mistakenly assume the pretty ones don't act in desperation when they want attention because you are fixated on her results her results rather than what emotionally drives her intent.

You are perfect.

You can decide this right now.

You don't have to be like 'her' to earn the air you breathe.

You've been through the storm and have magnificent stories to share of overcoming.

Own Your story.

That is what makes you exceptional, one of a kind, lucky, protected, and irreplaceable.

When you daydream again, let it be about your dream instead of the limiting beliefs of other women mask their jealous insecurities with tipsy laughter and sarcastic banter.

Tell your stories.

Don't let comparisons block you from enjoying the specialty within your singularity.

~Salkis
