Blakness on my skin
Makes 'Pretty' a little hard to see,
For some folk don't like the blakNess
that they can see on top ah me.
Nothing I care to change
but there's nothing I can really do.
I have to stand here knowing
you wished me abandoned
in my mother's womb.
But I am right here,
the woman that you call,
when your baby keeps crying,
and your when your lover
doesn't want you anymore.
And you exploit my compassion
cause you feel it's all I deserve,
but your fear is transparent
cause I see the pain
coming from your soul.
So I'll give you my shoulder to cry on
when the world starts to treat you hard.
Just know that the pain
I wipe from your eyes
is the same grief
you give me for being dark.
